For those of you who have attended our online recruitment training workshop called Effective Resourcing you will already know the power of using Jigsaw to obtain the direct contact details of potential candidates. However, as the success of a site such as Jigsaw lies in its user base we thought it about time that all Recruiters discovered how to tap into the sites resource of over 30 million contacts – that’s quite a database!
What is Jigsaw?
Jigsaw (or Data.com Contacts as it is referred to on the site) is the world’s largest database of up-to-date and downloadable company information. The information is maintained by a user base of over 2 million people who, between them, are responsible for uploading and editing the details of over 40,000 business contacts every day.
Each of the 30 million contacts on the site contains a complete set of details that must contain:
- Full name
- Mailing address
- Business email address
- Business telephone number (over 70% of which are direct dial)
How does Jigsaw work?
Although Jigsaw does offer subscriptions to access the contacts on the database it also offers a free membership option that works on a points basis.
Do you have a pile of business cards on your desk? Create a free account and start adding them to the Jigsaw database. For every complete profile you create your account will be credited with 5 points. To view the business card of a potential contact you will need to spend 5 credits. Therefore the more you add the more you can view.
The Jigsaw points structure explained
Add a contact’s business card (+5 points)
Make any update to a business card (+5 points)
Mark a business card as inaccurate (+5 points)
Anytime someone purchases a card you own (+1 point)
To view a card (-5 points)
*If the information listed is bad, mark the card as inaccurate and you’ll receive a refund of the 5 points
